I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA in a working class neighborhood off of Adams and Beach St. It was still pretty rural back then. The backyard of our house was a tomato field, and Main St. really was just an ordinary Main St. except tuned to local beach and surfing culture. Most of the businesses were privately owned. There was no mall or corporate Hotels. There was no paid parking on PCH and we rode bikes to go surfing on our own, with our parents blessing. It was an amazing time and place to grow up in.
